Wood Types
Woods that I build with are as follows: Pine, Maple, Oak, Ash, Poplar, Wormy Maple, Cherry, Walnut — also available in Live Edge.

Soft wood, less expensive with knots and character, nice in smooth or rough sawn finish.

Hard wood, mellow grain and character, nice in smooth or rough sawn finish.

Hard wood, red in natural colour with busy grain, nice in smooth finish.

Hard wood, white/brown natural colour with grain similar to oak, nice in smooth finish.

Hard wood with strong grain and natural contrast, nice in smooth or rough sawn finish.

Medium wood, mellow grain great for paint or stain finishes.

Hard wood with lots of character — white/brown natural colour with tiny holes, nice in smooth or rough sawn finish.

Hard wood, beautiful red natural colour with easy flowing grain, nice in smooth finish.

Hard wood, dark brown natural colour, nice in smooth finish.

Outside edge of the tree with or without bark — no two edges are ever the same, as unique as the trees they grow from.
Each wood species has unique natural colouring and grain. Because every wood type absorbs stain differently, we can help you choose the right species and finish for your project.
